There are over 35,000 community titles schemes and over 324,000 community titled lots in Queensland. The Community Titles Institute Queensland Limited (CTIQ) has a membership that includes all with an interest in the efficient administration of these properties. CTIQ proudly fulfills the dual roles of a professional institute and consumer advocate - natural for the peak representative body. The CTIQ membership is diverse and includes all of the major stakeholders in the community titles sector, with the membership including body corporate managers, members of body corporate committees in addition to allied professionals such as lawyers, accountants, real estate and on-site managers. The CTIQ membership has an ownership or management interest a large number of properties throughout Queensland. The Institute is clearly meeting is service delivery standards as evidenced by sustained membership growth. In Queensland community titles schemes are administered in accordance with the Body Corporate and Community Management Act (Qld) 1997 and subordinate Regulations, with CTIQ active in the revisions to this legislation and assisting the membership appreciate their obligations under the Act and how to carry out their duties in accordance with the Regulations. The Institute’s primary objectives are to support the professional development of its members and to actively pursue body corporate law reform. To this end, the Institute holds some thirty training courses, workshops and seminars each year throughout Queensland. These support programs range in length from two-hours to two days and are pitched at an introductory and intermediate level. The Certificate IV in Body Corporate Management is the profession’s benchmark qualification. CTIQ supports the National Community Titles Institute (NCTI) which provides the forum for the state organisations to progress selected issues at a national level. All members of CTIQ automatically become members of the NCTI. The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership with the President, two Vice-presidents and other office bearers appointed at the first meeting of the Board following each AGM, typically held in November, early December of each year. The CTIQ office located in Brisbane is responsible for the day to day administration of the Institute and is often the members’ primary reference point. |
